Lake Harding is one of Harris and Lee County’s finest outdoor attractions. This lake is a beloved family destination, primarily due to it’s proximity to both Columbus and Auburn. Lake Harding is a reservoir that occupies 5,850 acres of the Chattahoochee River.
The lake was initially constructed in 1926 for the sole purpose of providing the community with electricity from the dam. Shortly after in 1930, Georgia Power purchased the Dam and the Lake from the Columbus Power Company. Some areas are over 100 feet deep, making Lake Harding a great spot for recreational activities including swimming, fishing, water skiing, canoeing, and boating. Lake Harding is also known for the exquisite homes that sit just off it’s shores.
