Saturday, September 27, 2025 is Your State Parks Day, the biggest volunteer push of the year for Friends of Georgia State Parks. Think of it as a birthday party where the parks get all the gifts and you get all the fresh air.
Why it matters (like, actually matters):
- Parks run lean. Years of tightened budgets mean the extras we love—ranger-led hikes, living-history demos, live-animal programs—often exist because Friends steps in with people power and small but mighty dollars.
- Volunteers are the engine. On a single recent public-lands day, Friends rallied thousands of volunteers who contributed 8,000+ hours. That’s not “nice to have.” That’s mission-critical.
- Your donation backs the work. Can’t make it Sept. 27? There’s a give button with your name on it. Those funds support programming, volunteer gear and coordination, and the education/outreach that keeps new folks discovering the parks.
