Honoring the Men of War on the Man O’ War Trail

In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary and Harris County’s 200th birthday, we invite you to experience history one mile at a time along the Man O’ War Recreation Trail in Harris County, Georgia.

This unique trail experience transforms a scenic walk into a journey through America’s military history. Along the trail, visitors will discover 13 commemorative markers, each dedicated to a different war or conflict in chronological order. Beginning with Mile 1 and the American Revolution, the markers continue through the generations, each featuring the name of the war, the date, and a quote from generals and heroes who served in those moments of American history.

Throughout Harris County, commemorative banners also help extend this experience beyond the trail, offering additional opportunities to engage with the history and meaning behind America 250 and Harris County 200.

Whether you’re a history enthusiast, outdoor adventurer, family explorer, or simply looking for a meaningful day trip, the Man O’ War Trail offers a chance to connect with the past while enjoying the natural beauty of Harris County.

As you explore the trail, snap photos with the historical markers along the way! Visitors who show their photos at the Harris County Visitor Center in Hamilton can claim a limited-edition commemorative magnet and sticker created especially for the America 250 & Harris County 200 celebration.

Only visiting for the day? No problem. Travelers who may not have time to stop by the Visitor Center can submit their photos using the form below to have their commemorative gift mailed to them or prepared for pickup at a later time.
